Knitted fabrics are woven and knitted from pure cotton yarns, with single yarns or strands of infinite fineness and length, suitable for weaving, knitting, thread making, rope making, etc. Its specifications are usually expressed by the imperial count. The imperial count (Ne) of cotton yarn is defined as: the length of the cotton yarn with a nominal weight of one pound. The calculation of the inch count of cotton yarn: when the moisture regain is given, the cotton yarn with a given weight of one pound has several 840 yards, which is called several inch counts. Such as: containing 32 840 yards, it is called 32 English, and so on.​​

Yarn classification:

Coarse count yarn: pure cotton yarn with count 18 and below, mainly used for weaving thick fabrics or pile and looped cotton fabrics.​​

Medium yarn: pure cotton yarn of 19-29 British count. Mainly used for knitted garments with general requirements.​​

Fine Count Yarn: 30-60 Inch Cotton Yarn. Mainly used for high-grade knitted cotton fabrics.​​

Thinner yarn: pure cotton yarn above 60, used for high-grade knitted cotton fabrics.​​

The gram weight of knitted fabrics is generally the number of grams per square meter of fabric weight. Gram weight is an important technical indicator of knitted fabrics. In knitted products, generally the heavier the gram weight, the thicker the fabric texture.
